President Barry's Message

Last Wednesday we were invited to help celebrate the 44th birthday of the Rotary Club of Templestowe.
First there was a welcome by President Felix to our District Governor Alma Reynolds and guests. Then we heard from our very own Grahame Trainor who provided us with an historical view of the events that happened the year the that RCT was chartered. Well done Grahame.
Then it was the turn of our outgoing exchange student to Germany, Kaylas Flavel. What a year she had to be on exchange during Covid. Kaylas was given the opportunity to return to Australia but chose not to. As for school Kayla had some home learning. She managed to visit Switzerland as well inspite of Covid, It sounds like she had a wonderful time. As we only got to here part of Kaylas story and a lot of our members were unable to attend the meeting I will ask Brendon if he can get Kayla to come to one of our regular meetings in May.
The night ended with a birthday cake a Happy Birthday and fellowship..

Bob Pitts passed away last week and his memorial service was held on Friday.
Bob was a much loved member and his presence is sadly missed. Bob helped Frank with a great deal of advice when the East Timor Roofing company was formed.
For those who have asked about flowers or a donation, two charities were close to Bob's heart: Dementia Australia and Cancer Council of Victoria.
Alright I know that this is an old poster BUT the Market is on again on 4th April, possibly with an Easter Egg Hunt.

While we’re getting on with the business of helping others, let’s take a moment to remember our fellow Members, Partners and Friends of the Club, who may be doing it a little tough.
We’re also thinking of our long-term absent Members whom we don’t see often enough.
I’m sure all of us know an absent or ex Member who would love to have a call from any one of us as Members of the Rotary Club of Doncaster.
If you do know anyone who is unwell, or is going through challenging times, or even if you’re up against it yourself, contact our Welfare Officer, PP Frank Evans on 9337 8493, or email frank.evans1@bigpond.com.
