President’s Message
A new year, a new beginning.
Who would have thought that we will be talking about the same health issues in 2022 but this time it’s closer to home! Several members, families and close friends have already been infected and I wish you all a speedy recovery.
On a positive note, Rotary kicks off again on the 19th January at our new venue the Mercure Hotel which I am looking forward to.
The night will be informal, and partners are welcome and for those that couldn’t make the cocktail party last year, they missed a great night however we will be doing a tour of the hotel to familiarise ourselves with the facilities available.
Barry and I met with the hotel on Monday to sample the food and set the menu for the meetings going forward, hopefully everyone will be happy and we have been successful in keeping prices the same as last year with the addition of desert.
We received great feedback from the recipients of the hampers that everyone prepared at our last meeting. Hopefully we can continue this tradition now and look for similar projects that we all can get involved in on the night, I enjoyed it and the buzz in the room showed that it was a success. A special thankyou to those that went out of their way to purchase the goods and deliver the hampers.
Our next event will be the Bunnings BBQ on Saturday followed by the “Australia Day Lunch” which I will provide more information on later.
Happy New year everyone and Stay Safe!
Remember if you feel sick or have symptoms stay home and get tested
Yours In Rotary

Hi Barry,
Wishing you and Doncaster Rotary a Happy and productive New Year. Thank you for the hampers they were very happily received by several people. I will just give you three examples of the happiness expressed by the recipients.  I delivered hampers to two young men with disabilities but who have their car  licences and  were homeless with no family support and thankfully I was able to get them accommodation at a Supported Accommodation for Ladies and Gentlemen place. One young man was not happy with me about his accommodation but has finally settled in. I could not give the hamper to him personally  because of covid rules but dropped it off and rang him. He sounded so thrilled and indicated he didn’t get presents at Christmas because he  doesn’t have family.
I also took two hampers to a young woman with a disability from Doncaster  who was thrown out of the family home by her elderly Father and Sister. Luckily the NDIS have found her a flat but when I visited her to give her the hampers she only had $8 left in her wallet until pension day the next day. She was so thrilled and said to thank the Rotary Club.
I took two hampers to an elderly lady who can no longer drive and is not within walking distance to the shops. She has fostered two young ladies from Asia who have now left home and three people with disabilities. Two of the young people with disabilities still live at home and one young lad with a disability is extremely difficult to manage. She was so thrilled with the hampers and said they had her favourite biscuits in them.
You have done it again Doncaster Rotary you have made a difference in people lives.
Kind Regards

While we’re getting on with the business of helping others, let’s take a moment to remember our fellow Members, Partners and Friends of the Club, who may be doing it a little tough.
We’re also thinking of our long-term absent Members whom we don’t see often enough.
I’m sure all of us know an absent or ex Member who would love to have a call from any one of us as Members of the Rotary Club of Doncaster.
If you do know anyone who is unwell, or is going through challenging times, or even if you’re up against it yourself, contact our Welfare Officer, PP Frank Evans on 9337 8493, or email frank.evans1@bigpond.com.
